The City of Bulawayo has partnered with Dan Church Aid in responding to water challenges in the City. Dan Church Aid partnered with Coca Cola Foundation, Schweppes Zimbabwe, Danida and ECHO (Plan International and CARE International) and secured funding to respond to water shortages in the City of Bulawayo.
Dan Church Aid in partnership with Schweppes Zimbabwe received funding from Coca-Cola Foundation and the objective of this partnership is to enhance uninterrupted access to potable water by households through drilling and mechanisation of six (6) boreholes in the Bulawayo.
This intervention is targeting high density residential areas and USD50 000.00 has availed for the drilling and solarisation of six boreholes
In the partnership with Danida, funding has been received for one borehole drilling and solarisation and 2 boreholes rehabilitation in Bulawayo. The project is targeting low-income and high lying areas and communities within Bulawayo that have not been receiving potable water for the past 10 months.
Under Zimbabwe Disaster Rapid Response Mechanism project (ZDRRM), Dan Church Aid intends to drill and solarize 3 boreholes in Bulawayo.
Bulawayo City Council will be taking the lead in all activities by identifying sites for drilling, monitoring activities, and ensuring that appropriate standards are followed and adhered to.
