Roads Rehabilitation Works

NOTICE OF ROADS REHABILITATION WORKS WITHIN THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Department of Roads is carrying out Emergency Roads Rehabilitation Programme 2 (ERRP 2) in accordance with Statutory Instrument 47 of 2021. (Declaration of State of Disaster, Road Infrastructure Network) Funded by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and ZINARA

The motoring public is hereby notified of the ongoing Roads Rehabilitation Works within the City in a bid to improve the state of the road network. The Works will be carried out in phases and will involve resurfacing works, reinstating carriageway markings, rehabilitation of street lights and other general maintenance works. The first phase of works commenced on the 14th of April 2021 and are expected to be completed by the 16th of July 2021. Once completed these works will prolong the life of the carriageway, improve road safety and ride quality. The first phase of works will be carried out on the following roads:

Fife Street Masotsha Ndlovu Avenue to 15th Avenue
Doncaster road 15th Avenue to 23rd Avenue
4th Avenue Samuel Parirenyatwa street to Lobengula street
8th Avenue Samuel Parirenyatwa street to Herbert Chitepo

To ensure the safety of both the motoring public and workforce whilst carrying out the Works, the following traffic management system will be in place:

  • Full carriageway closure of sections with traffic being diverted accordingly; and
  • Lane closures, where necessary.

Every effort has been made to ensure disruption to traffic, businesses and residents is kept to a minimum. However, these works will inevitably cause some disruption, and for this, the City of Bulawayo wishes to apologise in advance.

The motoring and the general public are advised to exercise extreme caution when entering and leaving the said locations and to observe all warning signs.
