TradeWaste Inspector

ENGINEERING SERVICES DEPARTMENT

The following Internal positions have arisen within the City of Bulawayo:

1. Main Responsibilities /Job Summary	• Schedules the sampling and testing of industrial effluent discharges, underground water in domestic and industrial boreholes for pollution assessment. • Inspects motor servicing premises, car wash facilities, and service stations to determine the handling, disposal and usage of oils, greases and petrol. • Inspects industrial waste water treatment plants. • Assesses building plans for new industrial undertakings or extensions to existing ones for compliance to water pollution control requirements and make the necessary recommendations before the plans are approved. • Investigates and attends to complaints on pollution and liaises with industry in taking appropriate action. • Liaises with sewage yard and related sections of Council on matters of pollution management. • Provides inputs into Programme for the rapid response management of water pollution in the city.
2. Qualifications Requirements	• Degree in Bio/Analytical Chemistry or equivalent. • Clean class 4 driver’s licence.
3. Experience and Skills	• Degree in Bio/Analytical Chemistry or equivalent.
